I ’d like to thank everyone that has registered for our newsletter. In addition to showcasing some of our new products, I’m using this newsletter as a way of informing everyone as to what is happening in regards to safety in our everyday products. One of my biggest concerns in the past few months has been finding out more about BPA and other harmful chemicals products that come in contact with our food. There are a great deal of companies that have come out with BPA-free bottles (which is extra important because they are heated) but a lack of the other things, including utensils, containers and sippy cups. At Peace of Mind Baby, we strive to test every product before adding it to our roster, ensuring that we can honestly answer any questions surrounding a product, and I also think it ensures we wouldn’t like something that we use in our own home. Luckily for me, I have a built in tester (my 18 month-old daughter, Olivia) and we’ve decided that for the month of February, we’ll be testing some new goods for the store. Hopefuls include; utensils, sippy cups, dishes & bowls, food storage containers and disposable bamboo cutlery.
Also, there are many great sites to help you pick chemical free products, but I wanted to pass on a helpful tool. The BPA Mobile text-messaging service is a great free service that allows you to text to send a text message containing a products or company name, and get a text back with the BPA status. Just a handy thing to know about!

So far, all of our manufacturers have been able to produce their conformity certificates inline with the new CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) guidelines. We’ll explain in depth, what this means for us, what to look for and what to avoid when shopping for our children.
